2013 Upgrade Guarantee
| In July 2013, The IIA will begin testing the new 3-part CIA exam (for details, please visit https://na.theiia.org/certification). A new version of The IIA's CIA Learning System (version 4.0) will be released in April 2013 to provide comprehensive and up-to-date preparation for the 3-part exam. For those who purchase The IIA's CIA Learning System for the 4-Part CIA exam (version 3.1 - English) but are not able to complete the 4-Part CIA exam before December 31, 2013, we have created the Learning System's Upgrade Guarantee.
How long do I have to complete the 4-part CIA exam?You will have until June 30th, 2013 to sign-up for the 4-part CIA exam. Once you sign-up to take the exam, you have 180 days to schedule and sit for the exam. If you follow this schedule, the 4-part materials will be good until December 31, 2013. If you fit the following two criteria, you are eligible for the upgrade guarantee:
- You purchased version 3.1 (English) of The IIA's CIA Learning System*; and
- You will still have time remaining on your online access period when you choose to switch to the version 4.0 3-Part exam materials (online access is 2 years from date of purchase for full, 4-part kit purchasers; 1 year from date of purchase for individual part purchasers).
*Please note: The IIA's CIA Learning System is non-transferable, in accordance with the terms of use agreement to which you agreed when you activated the software. The terms of use agreement remains in effect should you choose to upgrade to the electronic components of version 4.0.
What do I get if I am eligible for the guarantee?
If you are eligible for the guarantee, you will have the opportunity to request the new version 4.0 of The IIA's CIA Learning System (English) including:
- Electronic version of the version 4.0 Learning System reading materials; and
- Access to the version 4.0 online study tools** for the remainder of your online access period (based on your original purchase date).
**Please note: If you choose to switch to version 4.0 of the online study tools, you will lose access to version 3.1 and all of your testing history.
How can I request the upgraded materials if I am eligible?
Upon release of version 4.0 in April, those who are eligible for the upgrade guarantee will be notified upon login to the online study tools. At that time, you will have the opportunity to request the new materials. Only those who request the upgrade will be sent the electronic reading materials and given access to version 4.0 online study tools.
