What does it mean to become a Chapter of Excellence?

If your chapter becomes a Chapter of Excellence, you will earn the following:

  • Recognition and an exclusive reception at the spring Leadership conference
  • Chapter of Excellence lapel pin for your chapter leaders attending the Leadership conference
  • Chapter of Excellence recognition tile ad to place on your chapter's website
  • CAP points

How can your chapter become a Chapter of Excellence?

There are three options for becoming a Chapter of Excellence. Download a flyer or review the options below.

Option 1: Host a Live IIA CIA Learning System Course Within Your Chapter Area

Chapters hosting a live facilitator-led CIA Learning System course administered by the chapter or hosting a live facilitator-led course in partnership with a college/university within their local area will obtain ‘Chapters of Excellence’ status by completing each of the items listed below. You must complete each of the items listed at least 4 weeks prior to the commencement of the course.

  • E-mail announcement to your chapter members to promote the course
  • Post course notification on your chapter's website
  • Place announcement in chapter newsletter
  • Place The IIA's CIA Learning System self-study tile ad on your chapter website's home page and link to www.learncia.com/chapters
  • Announce the course at a chapter event (if occurring)

CAP: Earn 20 CAP points under Service to the Profession for hosting a course. Additional points are earned under the Service to Members section and are based on the number of attendees and CPE hours offered.

 

Option 2: Promote Live or Online IIA CIA Learning System Courses Outside of Your Chapter Area

Chapters promoting a live IIA CIA Learning System facilitator-led course administered by another chapter within your district or promoting a live or online college/university partner-offered course within your district or promoting IIA public or online course offerings will obtain ‘Chapters of Excellence’ status by completing each of the following items (district geographical boundaries do not apply when promoting online courses). To obtain Chapter of Excellence status, you must complete each of the items listed at least 4 weeks prior to the commencement of the course.

  • E-mail announcement to your chapter members to promote the course
  • Post course notification on your chapter's website
  • Place announcement in chapter newsletter
  • Place The IIA's CIA Learning System self-study tile ad on your chapter website's home page and link to www.learncia.com/chapters
  • Announce the course at a chapter event (if occurring)

CAP: Earn 10 CAP Points under Service to the Profession. Additional points are earned under the Service to Members section and are based on the number of attendees and CPE hours offered.

 

Option 3: Promote The IIA's CIA Learning System Self-Study Materials and offer your members a special discounted price on materials.

To obtain Chapter of Excellence status, you must complete each of the items listed below:

  • Place The IIA's CIA Learning System self-study tile ad on your chapter website's home page and link to www.learncia.com/chapters
  • Place announcement in chapter newsletter
  • Announce/promote The IIA's CIA Learning System at a chapter event (if occurring)

CAP: Earn 5 CAP points under Service to the Profession for promoting Self-Study materials and 1 CAP per kit or part sold.

 

Other program details

  • The Chapter of Excellence program restarts each year on May 1 and ends March 1.
  • To qualify, the Chapter of Excellence tracking form (found below) must be completed and sent in to Kelly Quinn, IIA Partnership Manager, at kelly.quinn@theiia.org, no later than March 1st each year.
  • Chapter of Excellence status is awarded at the Annual Leadership Conference.
  • An annual webinar will be available for chapter leadership to be introduced to the Chapter of Excellence Program. Chapters will receive 2 CAP points (under Chapter Administration "Miscellaneous Activities") for each attending/participating chapter leader.
  • A maximum of 50 CAP points may be earned each year from the Chapter of Excellence Program.
