Learning Options

The IIA's CIA Learning System is flexible and effective as a self-directed program, but it can be combined with live instruction for those who prefer an interactive classroom approach to learning. For optimal preparation, we encourage you to take advantage of the self-directed and instructor-led options.

Self-Directed Format
The self-directed program includes the printed materials and interactive online software to give you the freedom to study where and when it’s convenient for you. Instructor-Led Courses
The instructor-led courses combine The IIA's CIA Learning System print and online components with the leadership of a qualified instructor. Choose from comprehensive instructor-led courses or CIA refresher seminars – or do both!

  • Comprehensive Instructor-Led Courses: Offered by The IIA, select chapters, international institutes, and colleges/universities, these courses provide an in-depth study of all related CIA topics in a traditional classroom format.   • CIA Refresher Seminars: This series of four CIA refresher seminars is designed for CIA candidates who have already completed The IIA's CIA Learning System self-directed and/or classroom course. These seminars will reinforce your knowledge, clarify topics, and build exam-day confidence.
